CRC Marlinton Cycling Weekend

July-August 2009

Another great weekend of riding organized by CRC Ride Captain Laurel Klein and attended by Kelly Boywer, Mike Breiding, Kaye and Mike Smith.

The rain cleared out for a Friday ride down the Greenbrier trail and through Watoga to return by backroads. Mike B. opted for a hike at Seneca State Forest. Saturday weather was even better for a ride through the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area and a visit to the Cranberry nature center.

Unfortunately the rain returned Sunday and canceled an opportunity to get Mike B. out of his hiking boots and into bike shoes. What follows are a few pictures from the ride.
This intro and the photo captions and photos below were provided by Mike and Kaye Smith -mb.

Another view of the South Fork. Great looking water to tempt the fisherman in us.

This was a great view through an opening looking east from the Cranberry Visitor Center.

14 - Along with the Visitor Center the boardwalk is a 'must see' for the nature enthusiast. The flat expanse you see is blanketed with cranberry and the carnivorous Pitcher Plant was quite common. The fern on the right is nearly as tall as Kelly.

Probably should swap the motorcycle for bicycle friendly.
